(this is to help everyone in fights)
Below are the tiers for technology and characters I set up so I may compare characters within different universes by the technology they use and abilities they posses. These tiers will be considered when fights are chosen for posting and are listed when fight biographies are made.
~ Technology Tiers
Tier 6: Primal – A level of technological advancement ranging from those equivalent to early homo sapiens to the native cultures of Earth. This means that wood, bone, stone and limited unrefined metals are primarily used in weapon construction for a hunter race. This is commonly paired with animism or the belief in nature spirits.
Example: Na’vi, Ewoks, Tarzan
Tier 5: Artisan – A level of technological advancement from early organized civilization into the Middle Ages until bladed weapons lose common usage, but this also depends on the character itself and what weapons they wield; sometimes intersects with the 6th tier.
Example: Conan the Barbarian, Guan Yu, Aragorn
Tier 4: Industrial – A level of technological advancement from the industrial revolution right until the beginning of current technological developments; Everything from flintlock rifles, revolvers to the steampunk genre belongs here. It is classified by simple mechanics, steam power or early electricity.
Example: Jonah Hex, Roland Deschain, Jack Sparrow
Tier 3: Standard – The current and average level of technological achievement by mankind including computers, present-day cars, GPS systems etc; it is utilized by the largest number of characters that stem from present, or at least recent, times.
Example: Spider-Man, Rorschach, The Punisher
Tier 2: Inventions – This is a little bit over the 3rd tier and are usually personal inventions put together by geniuses for teams or for personal use. These can include just some upgrades on a computer to the adaptation of alien technology.
Examples: Iron Man, Batman, Forge, Doctor Doom
Tier 1: Advanced – This is technology that surpasses that of the 3rd tier by far and is still above the 2nd tier. Most of this technology is “alien weapons or starships” thus is primarily made up of energy weapons, tractor beams, cloaking devices, teleporters and other science fiction clichés.
Examples: Predator, Darth Vader, Commander Shepard
Tier 0: Abstract – This is the “questionable” top tier ruled by deities of cosmic and divine power along with the “creator races” that jump started other civilizations. This “technology” is usually in the abstract realm of reality and time warping along with probability or mental manipulation to boost.
Examples: Galactus, Odin, The One-Above-All
~ Character Tiers
Tier 9: Street Fighter – A standard human or standard human level, fighter ranging from a petty criminal to stronger thugs; they cause no problem for anyone above Tier 6 but in armed groups can cause trouble for anyone under that tier.
Examples: Ryu, Paul Phoenix, Ken
Tier 8: Peak of Human Condition – Still human but achieved a perfected state of physical fitness making them “peak humans”. They can still fight those in the 6th tier and below but numerous factors have to be involved besides strength.
Examples: The Punisher, Batman, Jonah Hex
Tier 7: Enhanced Human – These are humans that have broken the bar of human strength but aren’t strong enough to be considered part of the 3rd tier and up. These guys include supersoldiers and other stronger members of the human race.
Examples: Captain America, Heihachi Mishima, Master Chief
Tier 6: Empowered/Mutant Human – This is a very broad tier that includes everything that has some sort of superhuman ability, not brought along by magic/cybernetics, until right under the Champion tier is here.
Examples: Wolverine, Kratos, Hawley Griffin, Spider-Man
Tier 5: Magi – This is a specific tier that doesn’t specify strength level but rather a certain status of being users of magic. Any being that utilizes magic falls into the 5th tier regardless of skill level and origin.
Examples: Raven, Doctor Doom, Harry Potter, Gandalf the White
Tier 4: Artificial – This is a specific tier that doesn’t specify strength level but rather a certain status of being robots or other mechanical creatures. Any being that is artificial intelligence falls into the 4th tier regardless of skill level and origin.
Examples: Cyborg Superman, Legion, Mother Brain, General Grievous
Tier 3: Champions – These are the city defenders or city destroyers that can dish out nearly unlimited damage but aren’t gods or their lesser heralds. They usually have some weakness or other trait that pulls them back but are capable of going toe-to-toe with those in the 2nd or even the 1st tier.
Examples: Hulk, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Thor
Tier 2: Heralds – These are unique characters that are above the 3rd tier in overall abilities but are below the literal “godly” characters of the 1st tier. The term “heralds” comes from the Heralds of Galactus which were super-powerful characters yet under the thumb of a higher being.
Examples: Silver Surfer, Ganondorf, Darth Nihilus, Darkseid
Tier 1: Pantheon – These characters are, for the most part, powerful deities who rule their own spheres of influence but lack the ultimate power of larger more infinitely powered “gods”. This tier’s members tend to control their own areas well enough so that those who belong to the final tier rarely, if not never, get involved.
Examples: Odin, Zeus, God Emperor of Mankind, Gaia
Tier 0: Abstract – These are beings whose power is infinite and incomprehensible with almost every and all abilities possible wrapped up into a titanic cosmic being. These are the beings that tower over the Pantheon level of gods with simplicity and without effort; they almost never get involved in mortal affairs but if they do the events followed could be of great joy or great destruction.
Examples: Galactus, The One-Above-All, God, Living Tribunal
